Founder and President
In 2024 Leigh Ann learned of the condition of the City of Sweeny’s animal impound and took actions to help. The more she discovered about the needs of the animals she founded Benji’s Animal Adoption Barn a pending 501c3 nonprofit in honor of her rescue dog Benji whom passed away over a decade ago. Benji saved her life on numerous occasions and her passion is to return the favor by honoring Benji and saving the lives of animals in need.
Jerri Freshour
Vice President
Jerri Freshour, as an educator, understands the importance of community involvement and education in making a lasting impact. Her passion for animals and dedication to teaching go hand in hand as she helps advocate for BAAB’s mission. She believes that by educating others—especially the younger generation—about responsible pet ownership and the importance of rescue efforts, she can help create a more compassionate future for animals in need. Jerri’s commitment to both education and animal welfare makes her a valuable member of the BAAB board, working to ensure that every rescued pet finds a loving home.
Reagan Jernigan
Secretary / Future Facility Director
Reagan plays a critical role on the BAAB board, bringing both expertise and dedication to the organization. As a licensed Animal Control Officer in Texas and a certified Veterinary Technician, she has extensive knowledge of animal care, rescue, and welfare. Her passion for helping animals is evident in everything she does, serving with compassion and kindness. Reagan’s experience allows her to bridge the gap between rescue efforts and proper medical care, ensuring that every animal at BAAB receives the attention and treatment they need to thrive in their forever homes.

Darlene joined BAAB because she is deeply committed to animal welfare and wanted to make a meaningful difference in the lives of homeless and neglected animals. Seeing the need for a well-run, compassionate rescue organization, she became involved to help provide proper medical care, safe housing, and loving forever homes for animals in need.

Connie, the owner of Rub-A-Dub Pet Grooming and Boarding, has always had a deep love for animals and a passion for their well-being. Through her work, she has cared for countless pets, ensuring they are groomed, comfortable, and loved. When she learned about BAAB’s mission to rescue and rehome animals in need, she knew she wanted to be a part of it. With years of experience in pet care, Connie saw an opportunity to contribute her expertise and resources to help give these animals a fresh start. Joining BAAB was a natural fit, allowing her to make an even greater impact in the lives of rescued pets.

Her commitment to service—both in the classroom and at BAAB—make her an essential part of our mission and a true example of what it means to lead with love.
